As we all know, breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Did you also know that there are certain breakfast foods that can make you gain weight?

Well, although many of us try to maintain a healthy diet, the problem arises when we do not have enough knowledge about certain foods and what they can do to our health.

While some foods may seem healthy, when had in excess or when had during certain times of the day, have the potential to make us prone to certain ailments.

Now, gaining excess weight is not a healthy sign at all. Being obese or overweight can lead to a number of health complications.

Joint pain, diabetes, cardiovascular disorders, fatigue, etc., can all be some of the side effects of being overweight or obese.

1. Only Coffee

Having just coffee for breakfast, without eating anything healthy can slow down your metabolic rate and make you gain weight.


2. Pastries

Some people have the habit of consuming pastries like cake, muffins, etc., for breakfast, as they are less time-consuming to eat; this habit can also lead to weight gain.


3. White Bread

If you do not substitute white bread with brown bread, especially for breakfast, then there is a possibility of weight gain, as white bread contains more calories.


4. Upma

Upma is a common South-Indian breakfast which is considered to be healthy; however, if it is too oily, it can lead to weight gain.


5. Rice

Having rice dishes for breakfast, like, pongal, pulav, etc., can also make you gain weight, as rice contains high amounts of carbohydrates.


6. Sugary Cereals

Sugary breakfast cereals, especially if they are chocolate flavoured can also cause weight gain, due to the high amounts of calories present.


7. Sugary Smoothies

If you have the habit of drinking smoothies for breakfast, make them fat free by eliminating sugar.
