Viral Video: Pakistani Family Celebrates India’s T20 World Cup Victory With Cake, Sings Indian National Anthem
Cricket rivalries often come with loud debates, memes and the occasional heated argument online. That's why a short video now doing the rounds on social media is catching people off guard for a very different reason.
The clip shows a Pakistani father and his young kids standing in front of a television, watching India celebrate a World Cup victory. They are wearing Pakistan jerseys. Yet when the Indian national anthem begins to play during the ceremony, they stand respectfully and sing along.
The moment is simple, but it has sparked conversations across cricket circles about what the sport can mean beyond rivalry.
What The Viral Video Shows
In the video, Pakistani social media user Arshad Muhammad Hanif is all ready to celebrate with a cake for Team India.
He then stands with his kids and an elderly person, probably his father in front of their television.
On the screen, as the final ICC T20 World Cup match begins, the Indian national anthem Jana Gana Mana begins to play.
Instead of watching silently, Arshad and his kids start singing along with the anthem. They do so respectfully, standing together while wearing green Pakistan cricket jerseys. The contrast is what makes the clip so striking - Pakistan jerseys, an Indian anthem, and a family celebrating the sport itself.
Throughout the match, the family clap and cheer and the kids wait impatiently for the win to cut the cake. Soon after the win they celebrate the victory jumping in joy and cut the cake, where Arshad Muhammad dedicates a piece to the Indian team.
The Message Arshad Shared Online
Alongside the video, Arshad posted a message that explained why he chose to share the moment.
He congratulated Team India on their achievement and sent "many congratulations" from Pakistan. But the larger point of his message was about sport itself.
He wrote in his post "Big love and support from Pakistan cricket fans. Cricket always brings us together beyond borders. Respect for the champions!"
Netizens Reactions
India-Pakistan cricket rivalry is one of the most intense in the sport. Matches between the two nations draw huge audiences and emotions often run high. That is precisely why this video stood out. Many netizens who saw the reel doubted if Arshad was a Pakistani because here was a Pakistani family celebrating an Indian victory without hesitation.
Sports moments that travel beyond rivalry
Viral videos during major tournaments often show fans celebrating wins, arguing over losses or reacting dramatically to match results.
This clip took a different path. Instead of rivalry, it highlighted admiration. Instead of competition, it showed appreciation for talent and achievement.
In a sport where India and Pakistan are usually framed as fierce opponents, the sight of a father and his kids celebrating the win with cake and singing the Indian anthem while wearing Pakistan jerseys was unexpected and that's exactly why people stopped scrolling to watch.
At its core, the video of Arshad and his kids is not about choosing sides in a cricket rivalry. It is about acknowledging a great performance and celebrating the sport that millions love.
For a few seconds on camera, the focus moved away from borders and scorecards. It became a moment about respect, inspiration and the idea that cricket, at its best, belongs to everyone who enjoys the game.
