When you feel that your heart has skipped a beat, or is beating faster than normal you tend to get scared. But for those people who suffer heart palpitations, it occurs frequently. They can feel the fast heart beat in the neck, throat or chest.

In some cases, these palpations aren't dangerous. What cause them? Anxiety, stress, alcohol, nicotine and caffeine could be some of the reasons.

But sometimes, it could also be a sign that there is something wrong with your cardiovascular system. Consult a doctor if the palpitations result in fainting, sever pain in the chest, dizziness and breathlessness. Here are some remedies.

Tip #1
When you experience heart palpitations, it is better to cough. This could bring the heart back to its rhythm as cough can induce pressure on your chest.

Tip #2
Breathe deeply. Breathe slowly. Focus on the breathing process. This could slow down your fast beating heart.

Tip #3
As stress is the main reason behind palpitations, try meditation. It can relieve you from stress and reduce the recurrence of palpitations.

Tip #4
Close your mouth and nose and try to breathe out. This method can also bring your heart back to its regular rhythm.

Tip #5
Certain essential oils like lavender oil can relax you instantly. Try aromatherapy. But if you are allergic to aromas, avoid this remedy.

Tip #6
Even fatigue could cause palpitation problems. So, get enough sleep as a preventive measure.

Tip #7
Eat fish to get more of omega 3 fatty acids as they are said to protect your heart and prevent palpitations.
