Alcohol is rich in empty calories. When consumed in excess quantity, alcohol not just increases the weight but also leads to an increase in blood pressure. It leads to the constriction of blood vessels as well.

5.Avoid Coffee:
The caffeine content in coffee leads to an immediate increase in blood pressure levels. Hence regular consumption of coffee should be avoided. However, one could have it occasionally.

6.Quit Smoking:
The nicotine content in the cigarette is bad. It leads to a rise in the blood pressure and narrows the arteries. It is best to avoid smoking cigarettes to prevent any risk of hypertension.

7.Reduce Eating Animal Products:
Animal products like meat, processed meat, eggs and butter are rich in fats. These increase the bad cholesterol levels and also the risk of high blood pressure.

8.Add Whole Grains To Your Diet:
Whole grains are rich in fibre content. This helps to break down the cholesterol and fat and prevents it from getting deposited in the arteries. This helps the blood to flow freely and reduce the blood pressure.
