Appropriate shoes - The first tip for new runners is to wear an appropriate shoe. The size of the shoe and its make should be comfortable enough to prevent injuries. For a new runner, the shoe is very important. One needs to visit a trainer and a shoe shop to find the best suitable shoe for them. With the right shoe, you can get a good start at running. The shoe should be replaced after every 400-500 miles or when they are worn out. The running speed gets affected if you continue wearing the same shoe for a long time.

Pre and post running exercises – If you are a new runner, you must start and end with warm ups to avoid muscle strains. Warm up increases the heart rate slowly and minimises stress to a considerable level. Jogging prior to a run is also a good form of warm up. You should also do warm ups post running to cool down your body.

Keep a posture - To avoid any body sprain, a posture should be maintained by the runner when running. The shoulder, neck, hands and back should be straight and in a single alignment. A good body posture is 90 degrees from the ground, which is an erect body posture. This is one essential tip for new runners to avoid any kind of muscle spasm in case of running miles in a wrong posture. Slouching is not at all allowed for runners.

Other exercise and diet - Protein diet is a must for new runners. You can either have protein shakes or egg milkshakes every morning. This is needed for the strength training of new runners. Runners run for miles together, but to increase their overall strength, weights and machines should also be used for exercises.

Use the walk and run - Initially, running for miles can be a big task and nobody can do it continuously. A good way to balance your stamina is to use the run and walk method. You run for a mile and then walk for half mile to balance your heart rate and regain your energy.
