LFW 2014: Amit Aggarwal's Tribal Designs

LFW 2014 is easily one of the biggest events on the fashion calendar. So needless so that everyone is dying to see what comprises Amit Aggarwal's collection for LFW 2014. The show opened at Lakme Fashion Week 2014 with a very edgy collection from the ace designer. We are already aware that Amit Aggarwal has a penchant for structured silhouttes.

LFW 2014: SUSHMITA SEN IN SHEER BLACK GOWN

But this time, he has taken his love for form beyond the ordinary. We can see the elements of structure not just in the clothes, but also in the accessories. Some of the accessories used by Amit Aggarwal in his LFW 2014 collection are 3-D. We particularly likes the butterfly ear muffs that have been borrowed from tribal tradition.

The collection had shades of black, blue and green in majority. You can easily spot that the collection is heavy on the darker hues. The silhouttes are structured as Amit Aggarwal remains true to his style. Sequined designs are in adundance. The fabrics that have used are washed out silks, tulle, matt silks, crèpe and satin. These materials come together to give a modern rendition of tribal fashion.

There were a number of saree style gown, plunging necklines, peplum finishes and textured gowns. Sheer body suits a mesh details added glamour to the collection. But the most interesting part of the collection was the fringe burkhas. The showstopper for Amit Agarwal's LFW 2014 collection was Sushmita Sen.

Saree Style Gowns

There were a number of saree style gowns in Amit Aggarwals collection. These saree style gowns were draped over mesh bosoms that were sheer.

Wrap Bust Gowns

Some of the sheer gowns were fit and flare in style. We loved the wrap bust of the gowns and the loving shimmering finish.

Wing Sleeves

This neon pink gown had very interesting winged sleeves. This textured gown borrowed heavily from African tribal fashion.

Fringe Burkha

Could you ever imagine that a fashion show would feature a burkha. This fringe burkha and many more like it in Amit Aggarwal's collection reminded us of Star Wars!

Showstopper

Sushmita Sen wore a sheer black gown as the showstopper of Amit Aggarwal's collection. She looked stunning in this puffed waist and flare dress.

Peplum Finish

Many of the gowns in this collection had a peplum finish. The structured peplum waistlines were a sight to watch.

Wrap Gowns

There were many pieces in this collection that can best be described as wrap gowns. The silhouettes have mesh busts and a sarong like wrap around the waist.

Sheer Body Suits

The sheer gowns in this collection were amazing. The striped body tattoo theme ran through the collection like a common thread.

Plunging Necklines

Amit Aggarwal always experiments with the necklines. We can see quite a few varieties of plunging necklines in this collection.

3 D Jewellery

The accessories used in this collection are really novel. These 3-D ear muffs made the models look like elves.

Mesh Headgear

To keep the tribal theme authentic, Amit Aggarwal used mesh headgears to add some fascinating touches to the collection.
