There are a few Indian spices which are very helpful in generating heat in the body and which aid in beating the chilly winter weather. Here in this article, renowned Indian Chef, Sanjeev Kapoor suggests a few names of the spices that help to keep you warm during winters.

Indian kitchens are structured in such a way that most of the ingredients are balanced and spices are one among them. Apart from the spices, having seasonal fruits and vegetables are equally important as these help in bringing a balance in the body, he said.
Each and every spice that you find in Indian kitchens not just adds taste to your food but it also has certain medicinal properties. Spices have been in use since the ancient times as part of the warming foods, too. However, one needs to be very careful about the right quantity to be used to reap its health benefits.

1.Ginger:
Ginger contains heat-producing oils called gingerols. Adding ginger to your daily meals helps keep the body warm. Not just this it also aids in digestion. It can be added to food as well and you can prepare tea with it.
2. Turmeric:
Turmeric is one of the most common spices found in every Indian kitchen.The curcumin compound contained in turmeric helps in raising the body temperature.
3. Cinnamon:
Along with producing that appetizing aroma, cinnamon is also one of the well-known spices that helps in raising the body temperature as well as boosting the metabolism.
4. Chilli:
Chilli helps in warming up the body. It is actually the capsaicin compound contained in chilli that provides a heating effect and helps in warming up the body.
5. Cardamom:
Known since ancient times cardamom not just provides that aroma to the food but it also helps in heating up the body, especially during the chilly winter seasons. Not just in food, cardamom can be added to tea as well.
6. Cumin:
More than the heat-generating properties, cumin, yet another important Indian spice helps in providing a balance to the heat produced. It further aids in digestion as well.
7. Coriander:
