Check Out The Coronary Artery Disease (CAD) Facts, Here
Arteries are the lifelines for all human beings. Coronary arteries are the blood vessels that supply the major part of blood, oxygen and other vital nutrients to the heart.
When the cholesterol-containing deposits (plaque) get collected in these arteries, it leads to a major health problem called the coronary artery disease (CAD).
This leads to the narrowing of the arteries, and this in turn creates a shortage of blood supply to the heart. This leads to several other accompanying health issues like chest pain and shortness of breath.
When there is a damage to the inner wall of an artery, there is accumulation of fatty deposits (plaques) that are made up of cholesterol. When the blood platelets get clumped, there can be a block in the artery, which can lead to heart attack.
The coronary artery disease goes unnoticed until there is this major problem like an heart attack.
So, the basic symptoms like chest pain and shortness of breath need to be carefully monitored, as, if left untreated, it might lead to an acute myocardial infarction (heart attack).

Changes in the lifestyle could be brought about by putting a stop to smoking, bringing in exercise in the daily regimen and maintaining one's weight.
Having proper healthy food and keeping oneself away from stress are few of the other major changes that can be brought about to manage the condition better.
Meanwhile, for those having high cholesterol, high blood pressure, diabetes and other chronic illnesses, it is advisable to get it checked with the doctor immediately and take the line of treatment accordingly.
Treatment Modalities For Coronary Artery Disease (CAD):
The treatment is provided as per the severity of the case. Once CAD is identified using any one of these procedures like electrocardiogram (ECG), blood tests, stress test, chest X-ray, coronary angiography, cardiac computerised tomography (CT) scan, cardiac MRI diagnostic tests, etc, treatment could be started accordingly.
There are several treatment modalities available right from medication to surgical and minimally invasive procedures for treating CAD, which can be decided based on the stage of the disease development.
