6 Benefits Of Water Fasting
There are many health benefits of water fasting, if you do it right. But, before moving to the water fasting benefits, let us see what is a water fast? It is a fast in which you have nothing but water. Not even other fluids such as milk or fruit juices.
Water fast is best conducted under medical supervision. If you cannot have constant supervision, speak to your doctor to understand if you’re a suitable candidate to go for this type of fast. Some experts recommend that you first accustom your body by fasting for one meal a day or going on a juice or soup fast.
WHAT SHOULD BE YOUR DAILY INTAKE OF WATER? FIND OUT
If you are unable to keep up the water fast for 21 days like some people do, try a shorter duration like 3 days or 6 days. Or you can do it once in a week.
In the first two days, you are likely to experience mild to severe discomfort such as headaches, nausea and diarrhoea. This is part of your body functions to remove the toxins. Spend the first day lying down if possible, because you may be dizzy. After this period, you’ll feel cleansed and lighter.
You’ll also start to experience other health benefits of water fasting:

Detoxification
Normally, our body struggles to expel the sheer quantities of toxins we ingest every day - artificial additives, processed foods and fats. As you drink water, these toxins are flushed out through urine and bowel movements. This is one among top water fasting benefits.

Improves digestive function
We overload our digestive system three to four times a day, and it becomes sluggish and unable to repair itself. One of the health benefits of water fasting is that our digestion comes almost to a standstill, and the body can focus its energy on repairing the digestive system.

Overall body repair
The beneficial effects of a slowed down digestion are felt all over the body. The body expends less energy on digestion, so it has more energy to repair itself. This is similar to how cell repair occurs at night when digestion is slow and this is one of the important water fasting benefits.

Reduces your craving for unhealthy foods
As days on the water fast progress, many people talk about how the mouth no longer craves unhealthy sugary, salty and fatty foods. The milder tastes of fruits, vegetables and simple meats begin to appeal more.

Heightens your senses
In our daily life, our senses are exposed too much that they become dulled and deadened. But, check out this one among the water fasting benefits; water fast takes away the sensory overload. Gradually, your senses become sharper and stronger - especially taste, smell and hearing.

Weight loss
Don't do a water fast for weight loss alone. However, it is one of the health benefits of water fasting. At first, you lose only water weight, which you will regain. Then, as the body is deprived of glucose, its usual source of energy, it begins to use up the body's fat reserves.

Drink More Water!
Exponents of water fasting claims that there are many health benefits. Research is on to prove water fasting benefits and effectiveness against a number of ailments such as asthma, hypertension, arthritis, Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS).
