Foods To Clean The Stomach & Improve Digestion

A bloated stomach and indigestion are two of the most common health problems that we face in our everyday lives.

You often hear every other person complaining of some stomach problem. Be it constipation or indigestion or acidity, bowel movements are important to clean the stomach regularly.

Unhealthy lifestyle and food habits are the major factors that affect digestion and bowel movements.

But one of the major mistakes that we commit is avoid drinking enough water after having such spicy foods. This in turn leads to indigestion and stomach bloating.

This makes you uncomfortable, can cause problems in your bowel movement, and if not taken care of on time, it might lead to serious other issues like piles as well.

Hence, it is important to include the right type of food in your diet if you want to clean your stomach and prevent indigestion.

Foods To Clean The Stomach & Improve Digestion:


1. Vegetables:

Include green leafy vegetables such as spinach, celery, broccoli, beans and asparagus in your diet as these are healthy and easy to digest. Carrots, onions, peas, squash and potatoes are rich in carbohydrates which help to clean the stomach.


2. Fruits:

Citrus fruits improve bowel movements and clean the stomach. Fruits leave behind healthy fibre in the colon which promote bowel movements and cleanse the stomach.

Have fruits such as oranges, grapefruit, peaches and strawberries. Bananas are very effective in improving bowel movements. Have at least 2 bananas every day to clean your stomach.


3. Whole Grains:

Whole grains and cereals are rich in fibre content. Including whole grains in your daily diet helps in cleaning the stomach, improving digestion and also promoting easy bowel movements.


4. Water:

Though it is not a food, water is very important to clean the stomach. This softens the stool and promotes easy flow. Have 8-10 glasses of water every day.


5. Fruit Juice:

Include healthy fluids such as fresh fruit juices and even milk in your diet. These foods help cleanse the stomach easily and improve bowel movements. They are easy to digest and do not lead to stomach problems.


6. Tulsi:

Take a few tulsi leaves, clean them thoroughly and just chew them on an empty stomach. This not just helps in boosting the immune system but it also helps to improve digestion and cleanse the stomach.


7. Carom Seeds (Ajwain):

Take a handful of carom seeds, popularly known as ajwain, roast them and then store them in an airtight box. Have a teaspoon of this roasted ajwain after your meal. This helps to better digestion and clean the stomach.


8. Ginger:

In a cup of hot water, add a few sliced pieces of ginger and then steep it for a few minutes. You could also add a few peppermint leaves. Strain it and slowly sip this water after your meal. This helps in improving digestion and bowel movement.



Take one tablespoon of honey, add a teaspoon of lemon juice and one teaspoon of ginger juice. Mix it well and have this twice a day. This helps in cleaning the stomach and in improving digestion.


10. Peppermint:

Take a few fresh peppermint leaves. Crush it with your hand and then add it to a cup of hot water. Steep it for a few minutes. Strain it and then drink it. Drinking this peppermint tea twice a day helps improve digestion.
