Why Should You Drink Water Before Going To Bed?
Water constitutes a major portion of our body. It is essential for the proper functioning of all our organs. Though one can go without food for almost 40 days, it is not so with water.
Two days without water will result in a serious health deterioration process. In order to maintain good health, it is important to consume water on a regular basis.
Having enough water throughout the day is a very good practice; but along with that, it is also beneficial to have a glass of water before bedtime.
You might be thinking why you should drink water before going to bed. There are a couple of reasons to support this thought. Have a look at these reasons to know why you should drink water before bedtime.

• Keeps the body hydrated: Water is the best way to keep your body hydrated. Drinking water before sleeping can help maintain levels of hydration in the body.Unlike daytime, we cannot consume water throughout the night.
But to make up for that, we can have a glass of water before going to bed. Since the body is not involved in any other activity during sleeping hours, the consumed water will help satisfy the hydration that is required by our body. This will also ensure a fresh feeling on waking up.

•Clears toxins: Hands down, water is the best cleanser and this is why you should drink water before going to bed. Our body absorbs a lot of toxins through various sources at all times.
This may lead to various ailments and hence they have to be removed on a daily basis. The best way to do so is by consuming water. Having water before bedtime gives the body enough time to clear out all the toxins and refresh the body.

• Promotes better sleep: Drinking water before sleeping also helps you to sleep better. Water helps balance out the body’s vitamins, minerals and nutrients.
During sleep, when no other physical activity is taking place, water can reach out to all parts of the body, thereby helping it to replenish itself.
Hormones, vitamins, minerals and energy levels are well balanced at night. Water helps relax the muscles and joints, thereby allowing the body to fully recover from a day of hard work.
• Helps to lose weight: Water is a zero-calorie drink. It has no taste, no flavour and no additives. But, it has everything in it to keep the body functioning normally.
And if you have cold water before sleep, you may end up burning calories as well.
When you have cold water, the body has to work extra hard to warm that water. This means, burning more calories. When you have cold water before going to bed, it means that the body will be using up all the stored calories to work towards warming that cold water.

• Helps prevent muscle cramps: Many a times in our sleep, we suffer from muscle cramps. This usually happens because of the lack of hydration in our body.
Drinking water, before sleeping, ensures that the body is well hydrated. This in turn helps reduce the chances of painful cramps and discomfort while sleeping.
Water is life giving and life supporting. There should be no doubt by now as to why you should drink water before going to bed. Having that one last glass before bedtime will work as a potion, granting a good and healthy life to you.
