Recipe For Oriya Dalma

Ingredients :
Toor dal - 3/4 cup
Red Pumpkin cut into big pieces - 150 gm
Medium Sized Brinjal cut into medium size pieces - 2
Raw Banana cut into medium size pieces - 1
Raw Papaya cut into medium size pieces - 150 gm
Potato, peel and cut into large pieces - 1
Grated Coconut - 2 tsp
Cumin Seed, Mustard Seed, Fennel Seed, Fenugreek Seed - 1 tsp each
Dry Red Chillies - 4
Ginger, minced - 1 tbs
Turmeric powder - 1 tbs
Cumin seed - 2 tsp
Red Chilli powder - 2 tsp
Ghee or Oil - 1 tsp
Sugar - 1/2 tsp
Salt
Method:
1.Roast 1 tsp of cumin and red chilli in a pan till light brown.
2.Grind it and keep it aside.
3.Boil 4 cups of water in the pressure cooker and add all
vegetables( potato, banana, pumpkin, brinjal and papaya)
and cook for 10 minutes.
4.Add dal into it when it's boiling. Also add salt,
minced ginger, turmeric and cook it for 2 whistles.
5.Heat Ghee and add Cumin Seed, Mustard Seed, Fennel
Seed, Fenugreek Seed, 2 red chillies and then mix it with
the cooked dal and vegetables.
6.Sprinkle roasted cumin and chilli powder above the
cooked dalma.
7.Garnish with grated coconut and coriander leaves
8.Serve with hot rice.
