Gingerbread Cake Recipe

Celebrate this Christmas with a healthy diet preparing this fat free recipe. Gingerbread cake is one of the most traditional Christmas recipes. Gingerbread cakes are moist and flavored cakes invented by Greeks around 2800 BC.

Earlier, in history, gingerbread was prepared with breadcrumbs and sweetened with honey but as it got famous around the globe it was adapted according to the tastes of different cultures. Take a look on how to prepare the fat free gingerbread cake recipe for this Christmas 2010.

Gingerbread Cake Recipe -

Ingredients:

1.1 cup flour (all purpose flour)

2.1/2 cup wheat flour

3.1/4 cup sugar (preferably brown)

4.1 tsp cinnamon

5.1 tsp finely ground ginger

6.1 tsp baking powder

7.1/2 tsp baking soda

8.1/2 cup buttermilk (low fat)

9.1/2 cup apple syrup

10.1/2 cup molasses

11.2 eggs (only egg white)

12.Sugar powder and cherries for garnishing

Method:

1.Preheat oven to 350-degrees.

2.In a mixing bowl, mix all purpose flour, wheat flour, sugar, cinnamon, ginger, baking powder and baking soda.

3.In another bowl, mix low in fat buttermilk, apple syrup, molasses and egg whites;

4.To this mixture add the flour mixture and mix well.

5.Pour into non stick pan and bake the cake for half an hour.

6.Remove the cake from the oven and set aside to cool

7.Cut Cake into different shapes like squares or any pattern and garnish it with sugar powder and cherries. Tasty Gingerbread cake recipe is ready to serve.
