Tandoori Prawns Recipe
Traditionally Indian prawns dishes are cooked in curries as specialty of coastal cuisines. However this spicy prawns recipe is a cosmopolitan addition to the hoard of tandoori recipes. It is for the new age Indian who likes the best of all cuisines be it Indian prawns from the coast or a special masala cooked in the Northern mountains.
Ingredients For Tandoori Prawns:
1. Prawns 10-15 (with the tail)
2. Curd 50 grams
3. Onions 2 (cut into 4 halves)
4. Tandoori masala 2 tablespoons
5. Red chilli powder 1 teaspoon
6. Turmeric 1 pinch
7. Ginger garlic paste 1 tablespoon
8. Ground pepper 1 teaspoon
9. Green chillies (minced)
10. Oil 1 tablespoon
11. Salt as per taste
Procedure For Tandoori Prawns:
- First of all you need to have prawns with the tail so that they are whole and don't disintegrate. Remove the shell but leave the tail intact.
- Make a marinade by beating together curd, tandoori masala, red chilli powder, ginger garlic paste, pepper and green chillies. Marinate the prawns for about 10 to15 minutes.
- Sprinkle a pinch of turmeric and salt on the prawns and brush them with oil. Do not dip in oil because it will wash off the marinade.
- Now arrange the prawns and onions in a heat resistant pan and put it on the high rack of the microwave.
- Set the oven on combination mode with a microwave temperature of 640 degrees and grill.
- You need not pre-heat the oven to cook prawns because they cook easily. Grill it for about 6 minutes on one side and 5 on the over.
You can garnish Tandoori Prawns with chopped coriander leaves and raita.
