Savasana Or Mrtasana

The word 'Sava'or 'Mrta' would mean a corpse. This asana is to imitate a corpse. Hence it is called the Corpse Pose or the Death pose. It is a great relaxation technique by being motionless and stilling the mind while one is fully conscious. Savasana though appearing apparently easy is one of the tough asanas as one needs tremendous effort to still the mind and the body.
1.Lie flat on the back with legs outstretched like a corpse.
2.Have the hands a little away from the thighs with palms facing up.
3.Close the eyes or have a black cloth over your eyes folded four times.
4.Keep the heels of the feet together with toes apart.
5.Have the lower jaw hanging loosely without being clenched. The tongue should not be disturbed.
6.The pupils of the eyes should be still without movement.
7.Breathe deeply to begin with. Gradually the breathing has to become slow and fine without disturbing the body and the spine.
