Women’s Day 2026: Why Creating Relaxation Spaces At Home Matters For Women Balancing Multiple Roles
Simple Spiritual Steps To De-stress

Prayer
Prayer could sound a bit ancient owing to our mechanical attitude to it in today's world. However prayer done whole heartedly does make a difference. Prayer opens up to the vast vista of peace. It unburdens immediately and the sense of entrusting the burden to a mightier power brings about an air of relief.
Switch To Positive Thoughts
There are certain misconceptions with regards to the way our mind works. Though it appears that thoughts rush collectively at a time when the mind is agitated, the truth is that there is only a single thought at a time. It is only that a single thought moves swiftly to the next which makes it appear like a cluster.
So when you feel negative, replace the negative thought with a positive one. It is necessary to understand that worrying would not help and instead one can think more constructively for better results. It is this simple, when you are excessively worried about something, a simple thought replacing like sipping a cup of coffee can replace a worry.
Worries are nothing but the inner chattering of thoughts.
Mindful Walking
When one stretches the body, one stretches the mind! Mindful Walking is a good way to relax. Go for long walks which will bring down the thought rush.
Chanting Mantras
There a lot of people who mumble their chants while walking. Japa or repetition of the name of your chosen deity or mantras brings in positive vibes and can instantly get one relaxed. This would suit those who are inclined towards religion.
It is to be noted that mantras are some special words with vibrations which are supposed to bring about the desired effect on one's body and mind.
Watch Your Breath
When the breath is controlled the mind is controlled automatically and vice versa. Watching the breath is itself a powerful meditation technique though looks very simple. It relaxes the mind.
Catch Word
Every spiritual seeker has a special catch word or a principle that has appealed to his/her mind. If you have one, immediately bring your focus on it and unleash your spiritual energy.
Count your blessings, Make a note
Do you bump into miracles or unexpected special happenings in life? Make a note of them in your diary. When the mood of depression seizes you, a look into the book will bring in a positive feeling.
Switch on the music
For those who listen to devotional music, devotional songs, preferably instrumental music can cool your mind.
Meditation
Needless to say, Meditation is the best way to de-stress. Get into the practice of regular meditation. It rewards abundantly in the long run.
Be Aware
Stop going along with your thoughts and detach your self from it. Just look at your thoughts with awareness without identifying with it, good or bad. Train yourself to be aware as you recognize that your mind is slipping away. This will pave way for a conscious living with an integrated mind, for a fragmented mind is what is problematic.
Awareness widens the gap between thoughts and enables one to live in the present.
Realise that we are not our thoughts nor we are our body. We are the indomitable spirit which cannot to be touched by even a fray of depression!
