Struggling With Postnatal Back Pain?
Postnatal back pain is one of the most common side effects of child birth. The mother is usually troubled with severe back pain during her pregnancy and even after child birth. In cases of C-section delivery, the postnatal back pain becomes even worse. There are some ways to get relief from postnatal pain. However, none of these methods are full-proof.
Several factors that contribute to the occurrence of postnatal back pain have been listed below.
Pressure On The Back Bone
When you are pregnant, your back bone bears the weight of your heavily pregnant body. Especially in the last stages of pregnancy, the weight is very heavy. This leaves traces of trauma and strain on your backbone causing postpartum pain.

Epidural During Pregnancy
If you are having a prolonged and difficult labour, then the doctor might put you on epidural. This injection inserted into your spinal cord gives continuous pain relief to the lower half of your body but does not knock you out. Epidural causes a lot of postnatal back pain.
C-Section Delivery
A C-section delivery requires you to stay in bed for almost 3 months. This will aggravate any kind of body pain that you have. This is because your muscles are not used and develop inertia.
Sitting Posture
Most women do not follow the right sitting posture when they are pregnant. This increases their back pain problems after the delivery.
Weight Gain
When you are pregnant, you put on weight all over your body. A 10 kg rise in weight is common. Your back has to bear this extra weight and that will make your back hurt.
Postnatal Back Pain Relief
Massage: Postnatal massage is very effective in healing back pain. You must hire an expert to massage you at least once a week.
Weight Loss: You need to work on getting back in shape after the delivery. This means you have to follow a strict diet and start exercising. As and when you lose weight, the pressure and pain on your back will come back.
Yoga: Postnatal yoga is very effective in strengthening your back and muscles. You must join postnatal yoga classes to get into shape and also get relief from postnatal back pain.
