The definition of ‘bizarre' foods is a bit tricky. As they say, one man's terrorist is another man's patriot. Similarly, foods that are bizarre for us may be delicacies in some countries. It is common knowledge that many countries have cuisines that include certain unappetizing food that are delicacies for them.
On an average, people eat chicken, eggs, lamb, beef and pork. But in some countries bizarre meats like snakes and scorpions are eaten regularly. We have no right to judge people on what they eat. Some of the foods eaten around the world might seem bizarre to us, but for people who eat them they are delicious.
You will be surprised to know that some of these foods that are bizarre to us are not only relished in some countries but are very expensive foods too. For example, bird nest soup is a delicacy in China that is on the list of one of the most expensive foods in the world.

Bird Nest Soup: China
In China, nests of birds called swiftlets are very much in demand. The Chinese make a number of delicacies with birds nests, soup is just one of them.

Raw Blood Soup: Vietnam
Raw blood soup is a very simple Vietnamese delicacy. It contains very few ingredients lie shallots, chicken and raw duck blood!

Monkey Brain
It is hard to believe that monkey brain was actually eaten in some parts of the world. But if history is to be believed, then monkey brain was a famous delicacy for sailors of the Dark ages.

Deep Fried Tarantula: Cambodia
Tarantula is actually is a very poisonous spider whose bite can kill a full grown human being. But in Cambodia, these dangerous creatures are caught, the poison sac is removed and then deep fried as snacks.

Ikizukuri: Japan
In Japanese, Ikizukuri literally means ‘eating alive'. And for all practical purposes you will be eating a fish alive. According to Japanese tradition the fish is cut in front of the guest and served with its blood and guts on the plate!

Casu Marzu: Italy
Casu Marzu is eaten in Italy, the land of pizzas and pastas. On the surface it might look like a creamy cheese. But the milk actually allows to go putrid for this dish. This fermented cheese roll is then served to you as a delicacy.

Century Eggs: China
Century eggs are not anything like Easter eggs. They are at least a century old rotten eggs that are cooked in sauce and served as a special dish in China.

Balut: Philippines
Balut is an incredibly cruel dish eaten in Philippines. A duck's egg is first allowed to grow into an embryo. It is then boiled and eaten.

Escamoles: Mexico
In Mexico, a special kind of caviar is eaten. Insect eggs that look like long white beans are served as special snacks.

Raw Cobra Heart: Vietnam
This dish is not for the weak hearted. In Vietnam, the heart of a real cobra is served as a delicacy.
