Your Own Inexpensive Designer Bathroom-IV Bathroom Flooring
Welcome to the fourth series of Your Own Inexpensive Designer Bathroom. After looking into Bathroom Lightings, last week, this week let us focus on Bathroom Flooring. Since bathroom is a wet room, bathroom flooring is of paramount importance. The flooring you choose needs to be able to deal with damp conditions.
Bathroom tiles set a style and class for the whole area. A nice looking bathroom has ceramic tiling or stone flooring. Ceramic makes excellent bathroom flooring. This material is natural, made from clay, water, and minerals that are then pressed into desired shapes. From there, the ceramic is fired and depending on the tile chosen, it would be glazed or unglazed Tiles are quality products and when used can give an impressive look to the floor and room in which its used. The only drawback is a cold feel. Nobody would like to walk into a bathroom with a cold feel. First thing in the morning, from the warmth of your bed onto a cold floor, is not so pleasant after all.
So how do we tackle this?
Use warm coloured floorings. These soft colours offset the cold feel and make it more convivial. Warm coloured walls also help counteract the 'coldness' of tile, flooring, and porcelain fixtures. Calm colours as beige, soft gold and earth tones are for timeless style texture and visual interest. There are a number of innovations in carpet and wooden flooring that can make your selection perfect for your lifestyle. You can use also use slate and marble. Again, as with most other bathroom design products, your choices remain endless.
A wooden floor will give immediate warmth to your bathroom and bring about a sense of relaxation and calm. Make sure that your flooring has a few good coats of clear gloss to keep it watertight. Vinyl bathroom flooring is also very popular. It comes in plenty of attractive colours, and is inexpensive. It gives your bathroom your own spirit and luxurious feel. It is not true that Vinyl gives you cold feet; today the market has soft and thick ranges, which give bounce and warm feel. Vinyl tiles are also available in interesting shapes and patterns.
Most people would prefer to step out of a shower or bath onto a soothing, warm surface. A pre-warmed tile or stone floor sounds good, doesn't it? Turning your cold tile into a warm surface will help you recreate the warm atmosphere of a comfortable European spa. If you go for tiles or any other 'cold' underfoot material, invest in good under floor heating. These ultra-thin electric systems install conveniently underneath your new floor. The heat radiates up through the tiles and allows for a nice, warm cozy feeling when you step on the floor. If you're living in a colder climate, one of the most luxurious treatments you can do with your bathroom flooring is, heated tile. This is available with most ceramic, slate, granite, and stone tiles.
If this is expensive for you, you can throw in a few rugs and mats for a warm feel. Whatever is your flooring; use a reasonably rough surface, so that, when they are wet, they don't become dangerously slippery. Tile used as bathroom flooring is extremely durable, strong, and it looks great. You will be amazed at what a difference it will make to your bathroom, by just removing the old flooring. So go ahead, decorate your bath floor and make a statement with your tiles.
