Best Ways To Prevent Cervical Spondylosis
Listed here are a few of the best ways to prevent cervical spondylosis, check them out.
Our body is a complex structure with bones and muscles. Did you know that the bones in our body are stronger than some variants of steel?
The bones and muscles attached to it is what makes the human body mobile. All of us are aware of the fact that there are 206 bones in a human body. But there is no exact count of the number of muscles we have.
The muscles of the human body are very important. They help move our hands, feet and neck voluntarily. Our muscles are mainly made up of proteins.
Unfortunately, all the muscles are prone to wear and tear, and get damaged overtime due to stress or ageing. This can cause a lot of problems and can make our everyday tasks difficult.
The muscles, which are commonly strained in our body, are the hand muscles, legs and thigh muscles, calf muscles, upper back muscles and neck muscles. Among them, our neck muscles are the most frequently strained and hence the ones prone to injury.
Our neck is made up of seven vertebrae, which are small disks. The gap between these disks is filled with a fluid. Our neck muscles expand and contract continuously throughout the day and are said to be one of the strongest in our body.
The muscles of our neck are very important, as they are what makes our head move. These muscles are not only required to keep our head high, but they also assist in breathing and blood flow to the brain. Therefore, it is very important to keep our neck muscles strong and strain free.
Sometimes, an injury, accident or simply stress can cause the neck muscles to be strained. Even normal wear and tear or age can cause pain in the neck muscles, leading to chronic pain. This condition is normally called cervical spondylosis.
Cervical spondylosis is the condition where the muscles of our neck are injured due to constant strain or wear and tear due to age. There are other factors that contribute to this condition, but these two are the most common.
Factors such as being overweight, following an inactive lifestyle, or past spine injury, etc., can cause cervical spondylosis or it can also be hereditary.
This condition is said to be irreversible and the person suffering from it can be given medication to relieve the pain. Therefore, it is important to prevent cervical spondylosis.
1) Weight Loss:
It is a good idea to lose weight if you are suffering from cervical spondylosis and are overweight. Losing weight will decrease the pressure on your neck and will also help avoid chances of an injury.
2) Balanced Diet:
A balanced diet rich in fruits and veggies will help prevent cervical spondylosis. Include loads of calcium, phosphorous and Vitamin D sources in your diet to help keep all the bones and muscles in the body active. Salads with steamed veggies every day will go a long way into ensuring that you stay away for cervical spondylosis.
3) Hot And Cold Compress:
It is the easiest way to prevent neck pain. Applying alternate hot and cold compress will increase blood circulation in the neck and relax the muscle soreness. Cold compress will also give relief from redness and swelling, and also help ease the pain.
4) Epsom Salts:
Epsom salt is full of magnesium, which helps regulate the pH levels in the body and reduces soreness and swelling of the strained muscles. Taking a bath with Epsom salt will help reduce the chance of cervical spondylosis.
5) Garlic:
Garlic is an excellent anti-inflammatory agent, which will reduce the swelling of the neck muscles. It is a natural remedy known to treat and prevent the condition from a long time. Applying garlic oil will also be helpful. There is nothing better than some warm garlic oil to relieve the neck pain.
2-3 cloves of garlic can be chewed in the morning along with a teaspoon of honey. Alternatively, garlic oil can also be used. Add a few pieces of garlic in some coconut oil and heat. Cool this oil down and apply it onto the neck and shoulder muscles.
6) Ginger:
Ginger is also anti-inflammatory in nature. It increases the blood circulation to the neck muscles and helps ease pain.
Make ginger tea by boiling 1-inch piece of ginger in hot water. Strain and enjoy the tea.
