As we get older, a lot of things change in our lives; we may get wiser through lessons taught, can be life experiences, we learn to enjoy the little things, etc., right?
Along with the good things, life also brings us a few negative things, as we age, such as age-related diseases.
Most of us may have seen our grandparents or parents suffer from certain ailments as they age, right?
This could surely make us fear ageing and also make us want to take better care of our health.
As we know, the heart is one of the most important vital organs of a living being's body. Without its proper functioning, a person can experience serious health issues and even death.
Even if the heart stops pumping blood for a few seconds, a person could experience immediate death.
Now, heart ailments can also be experienced by younger people; however, they are more common in people above the age of 45.

Some of the common types of heart ailments are abnormal heart rhythms, angina, weakened heart walls, hole in the heart, heart failure, cardiac arrest, etc.
Heart problems could either be caused due to an internal defect, or due to lifestyle issues such as unhealthy diet habits, lack of exercise, stress and vices.
When a person follows an unhealthy lifestyle, he/she could suffer from conditions like high cholesterol, hypertension, etc., which result in heart problems.
Stroke is another serious condition in which the blood supply to the brain ceases, due to the presence of blood clots in the brain, causing a number of dangerous symptoms and even death.
Some of the common symptoms of stroke are complete or partial paralysis, loss of muscle coordination, difficultly in speaking, confusion, balance disorder, numbness of muscles, brain death, etc.
So, if you want to prevent heart ailments and stroke when you get older, follow these tips!

Tip #1 Riding Bicycle
Ride a bicycle either at the gym, or on the street, at least for 20 minutes, every day, as cycling is one of the best cardio exercises to prevent heart ailments and stroke.

Tip #2 Dark Chocolate
Consume dark chocolate in limited quantities, at least a few times a week, as the antioxidants in dark chocolate can prevent the formation of blood clots in the heart and brain.

Tip #3 Beer
A research study has said that having a glass of beer (not more), once a day can lower your cholesterol levels and keep your heart healthy.

Tip #4 Vitamin B Supplements
After talking to your doctor, take vitamin B supplements every day, as this vitamin is also known to help prevent blood clotting and thus reduce the risk of heart diseases and stroke.

Tip #5 Fish
Consuming fish at least once a week can help keep your blood vessels dilated, as fish contains vitamin E, thus preventing blood clots and high blood pressure.

Tip #6 High Fibre Breakfast
Consuming a breakfast which is high in fibre content can also reduce cholesterol and thus prevent heart diseases and stroke.

Tip #7 Flaxseed
Add flaxseeds or flaxseed oil to your diet on a regular basis, as the omega-3 fatty acids in flaxseeds are also known to prevent heart diseases and stroke.
