A good night's sleep is an important key to general wellbeing. Routine improper habits at bedtime can hinder your otherwise restorative powers of sleep. When we do not get enough sleep, we tend to suffer from a number of diseases. We also resort to sleeping pills in order to get a good night's sleep but these can prove to be harmful in the long run.
A good comfortable bed is the first thing that you require in order to get good sleep throughout the night. Make sure that your bed has a strong firm mattress and does not end up giving you backaches. Now let us discuss the things that you should never do in bed in order to get a good night's sleep.

Never keep your television in the bedroom and never ever go to sleep while watching television. The glow from the television ends up stimulating our brain. It also stops the brain from secreting melatonin, the hormone that is required for a proper and peaceful sleep. This ends up giving you a restless sleep.

Do not go to bed with your phone. With smartphones becoming a part of every second of our lives, we have the tendency to fiddle with them before we shut our eyes. This will definitely not give us a good night's sleep as it ends up affecting our circadian rhythm. It also affects the levels of melatonin or the sleep hormone.

Do not eat anything like sweets on the bed before you go to sleep as it can attract flies, ants and cockroaches and with these insects on the bed, you will definitely not get a good night's sleep.

Never take your work to bed. According to the National Sleep Foundation, when you start associating your bed and work together, you will end up suffering from insomnia. Never make this mistake.

Last, but not the least, never have a heated discussion in bed. Instead hug and cuddle your partner and go to sleep. This will help the body to release endorphins and help you to get a good night's sleep.
