The caffeine in coffee can be called a drug because it is a stimulant. The stimulant in caffeine affects the nervous system by making individuals feel more invigorated and less fatigued. It is also known to improve an individual's performance, the way he operates, and mental concentration.

However, if you are a tea or coffee addict and consume huge amounts of the beverages every day you should be aware of the harmful effects that it has on the body. It increases urine production. A modification in the heart rate occurs and the blood pressure level also increases.

When an excessive amount of tea or coffee is drunk, it can lead to withdrawal symptoms because when individuals drink these on a regular basis, they develop a reliance on the caffeine and their body starts to crave for it. Depriving the body of it can lead to withdrawal symptoms. The withdrawal may result in serious headaches, fatigue, or irritable behaviours.

Coffee also contains acid that could cause problems if you have an ulcer or sensitivities to acidic foods. You will need to be cautious about the quantity of acid you are taking in or you may cause your stomach to be upset. Also, make sure that you do not drink orange juice with coffee in the morning for breakfast as this can lead to more harm.
