Yes, carrots play an important role in preventing or treating respiratory issues like cold, cough, asthma and bronchitis. Most of us know that carrots are very good for eye-sight. But they can also promote healthy bowel activity and also boost immunity.

Carrots are rich in beta-carotene and also vitamin A. Other nutrients in a carrot include minerals like iron, phosphorous, manganese, magnesium, potassium, calcium and vitamins like B, K, C.

When it comes to clearing the phlegm in your lungs and treating cough, follow this remedy:
Slice a few carrots and boil them in water for 5-10 minutes. Once they are considerably soft, remove them out of the water and mash them well into paste. Again add the carrot paste to the water in which they were boiled.
You can store it in your fridge for a day or two and consume it during the day. You can get relief from your cough and phlegm issues with this remedy.

Turmeric
Turmeric kills bacteria and also relieves you from phlegm. Simply drink a glass of milk after adding a spoon of turmeric to it.

Licorice Root Tea
The best thing about licorice is that it is an expectorant. It soothes your airways. Your throat irritation will be cured if you consume licorice tea twice a day.

Ginger
We all know that ginger naturally decongests your respiratory system. In a cup of hot water, add a piece of ginger and a spoon of honey. After a while, drink the water to get some relief.

Steam
Inhale the steam from waters that contain a few drops of eucalyptus oil and tea tree oil to get rid of the respiratory issues.

Lemon
Lemon contains vitamin C and anti-bacterial properties too. Take a cup of warm water and add 2 spoons of lemon juice and one spoon of honey. Consume it thrice a day to get some relief.

Honey
Honey is also a good healer of cough. It can soothe your mucus membrane. Take a spoon of honey couple of times a day. You will find some relief from your phlegm issues.

Salt Water
Salt water gargling may also relieve you from cough and sore throat issues. Do this couple of times a day to get rid of the discomfort.
