1. Alcohol Abuse:
Alcohol abuse leads to damage of the stomach lining and increases the acid production in the stomach. It further leads to dehydration as well and thus affects the gastrointestinal tract as well.
2. Junk Foods:
Junk foods mainly comprise of spicy, oily and deep fried foods that affect the lining of the stomach and increase stomach acidity. It triggers burps often and also causes pain in the stomach.
When the stomach receives a huge amount of food all at once, the production of acid also increases and this causes acidity and digestion problem. It is always better to have food in small quantity as this helps in correct production of acid which the body requires for digestion.
When one is under high stress, one tends to overeat, which causes acidity. Also, when one is highly stressed the body tends to release stress hormones which lead to digestion problem.
Acidity among smokers is one common problem. The nicotine content in the cigarettes affects the lining of the stomach and leads to excess production of acid.
6. Less Water Consumption:
When the body fails to get enough water for hydration it causes acidity. Consuming a lot of water - at least 8 glasses a day is essential as this helps in balancing the excess acid produced.
7. Coffee & Soft Drinks:
Coffee and soft drinks contain caffeine that affects the lining of the stomach and this increases the acid production in the body. Hence drinking excess coffee and soft drinks should be avoided in order to prevent stomach acidity.
Medicines, especially the painkillers, lead to the production of a lot of acid in the stomach thereby causing acidity. It also affects the digestive system as well.
