After a long day at work, you are so tired and stressed that you can't even sleep. There are many nights in a month when you wait for the morning. You keep looking at the clocks' needle whole night as they tick closer to your wake up time. You are not able to sleep at night even if you try hard. Don't worry. It happens with many of us.

Bedtime Rituals To Induce Sleep

Unhealthy habits like watching television at night, having coffee, reading books etc can hamper your sleep. Follow these bedtime rituals to induce sleep.

Drink warm milk: You must have seen your elders drinking milk at night before going to sleep. Yes, it actually makes sense. Milk has an amino acid called tryptophan in it which induces sleep. So next time when you feel that you are not able to sleep properly at night, have a glass of milk or make it your
habit to fight sleeplessness.

Stay disciplined: Fix a time for retiring to bed every night. This bedtime ritual allows your body to know
when it's time to relax.

Soak in the tub: Bathing before sleep is always good, but if you relax in your bath tub for sometime in the evening, it will definitely help you get better sleep. Soak your body in the bath tub and relax for some time. It relaxes your body and soothes the mind, thus induces sleep.

Listen to soft music: It is always great to hear soothing and soft music. To induce sleep, listen to some soft music. Choose some good music or any soft song you like and play it next to your bed when
you sleep so that you can turn off the switch anytime.

Read a book: Reading a book before bedtime induces sleep. It has a very soothing effect on your mind and body. Your body tend to relax when you read and imagine the characters you are reading about.

Write down everything: There are many things you come across throughout the day; many thoughts which came and went away during your busy day. Express it or put your final thoughts on paper. It calms down your mind as there is nothing left to think or worry over and you will have a good night sleep.

Gentle head massage: Fight sleeplessness with a relaxing head massage. This bedtime ritual induces sleep and relaxes you.
