Spring Vegetables In The Season
Pongal or Makar Sankranti marks the onset of spring. It is the lovely season where the days start becoming bigger and the cold temperature is decreasing gradually. Even some delicious spring vegetables are available in the season.

There are many spring vegetables and fruits in season. Artichokes, asparagus, broccoli, cabbage, carrots, fava beans, spinach are some healthy vegetables available in this season. Delicious fruits like avocado, apricot, grapefruit, kiwi, pineapple, strawberries, blueberries and tomatoes are seen in the spring season.

Spring Vegetables & Fruits In Season:

Artichokes
Artichokes are rich in fiber, potassium, calcium, iron, and other essential minerals which makes it a healthy seasonal vegetable. It aids digestion, controls blood sugar, promotes healthy functioning of the liver etc.

Asparagus
The nature's aphrodisiac can be seen in market from early February. The nutritious asparagus promotes heart and bone health.

Cabbage
The green vegetable is also rich in essential vitamins and minerals. Cabbage soup and juice is very popular remedy for weight loss. Moreover, cabbage improves digestion.

Fava Beans
The green vegetable is rich in lean protein, potassium, Vitamin K, B 6 and have no saturated fats. Fava beans are rich in iron which makes it a nutritious spring vegetable found in season.

Carrots
There are numerous health and beauty benefits of carrots. They are rich in Vitamin C and antioxidants which is healthy for the body and skin.

Spinach
The green leafy vegetable is considered as a superfood due to its healthy properties. Apart from being low in calories, the leafy vegetable is rich in Vitamin A, K and E. It helps to protect against various infections and strengthens respiratory, urinary and intestinal tracts.

New Potatoes
Small as well as big fresh potatoes are harvested during spring. They are easy to cook and taste delicious too.

Avocado

Fennel

Radish
The red and white bulbs are a rich source of Vitamin C which serves as antioxidant and anti-inflammatory ingredient. Radish is rich in potassium which is good for the kidneys.

Available from winter to spring, grapefruit is one of the fat-burning fruits that is good for weight loss.

Berries
The tangy berries are rich in vitamins and antioxidants which makes it a healthy spring fruit. Blueberries and strawberries are fat-burning fruits that are perfect for dieters.

Watercress
