Why Japanese Food Is Healthy?

When the healthiest cuisines in the world are listed, Japanese cuisine is always on the top. Japanese food habits are praised for their brevity and simplicity. It is healthy because of its closeness to nature. Sushi foods are cooked very little and thus they retain most of their nutrients. You must be aware that overcooking kills and destroys the nutrients present in foods. Food habits of Japanese are such that they eat minimally cooked food.

The ingredients used in Japanese food are also very healthy. Unprocessed, soy, seaweed and various varieties of fish make sushi food one of the healthiest cuisines around the world.

Heart Healthy
Seafood are the main source of proteins in the Japanese cuisine as opposed to meat. Sea fish has lots of omega-3 fatty acids unlike meat. That is why, Japanese foods are heart healthy as compared to other cuisines in the world.

Boiled Foods
Japanese food mainly consists boiled or stewed foods. You will rarely find foods that are deep fried or soaked in spices in Japanese cuisine.

Soy that is used in authentic Japanese cuisine is unprocessed and therefore healthy. Most gravies are soy based and most foods are eaten with a proteinacious soy dip.

The Japanese food habits usually do not include very crispy food. What they have instead is light stir fried foods that are not dripping oil.

Japanese foods are healthy because their sodium content is generally low. As they eat lots of seafood that has natural sodium, the salt content in their foods is less.

Yams
The carbs in the Japanese diet are provided by yams. Yams are complex carbohydrates that gives energy and nutrients too.

Antioxidants Rich Food
The Japanese diet is supposed to be rich in antioxidants. Fish and vegetables have maximum antioxidants in the raw state. And because the Japanese cook their food minimally, they get the most out of antioxidants.

Seaweed
Japanese cuisine is one of the rarest cuisines in the world, where seaweed is used as an ingredient. There are numerous health benefits of seaweed. Firstly, it is rich in sea minerals. Secondly, it has almost nil calories. Perfect food for dieters.
