Suffering From Insomnia? Drink Cherry Juice, It Helps

Suffering from insomnia is one of the worst feeling that one could ever have. If you fail to have a proper sleep then it can have a serious impact on your overall health. Hence, having a good night's sleep is very essential.

A new study has found that drinking a glass of cherry juice in the morning and a glass before bedtime helps to better your sleep.

So if your parents and grand-parents have been suffering from insomnia then make it a point to give them cherry juice, it helps to extend their sleep by near about one and half hour. According to the study cherry juice seems to work among people who are above 50 years of age.

During the study, researchers had taken into consideration eight healthy male and female above 50 years of age suffering from chronic insomnia. The participants were divided into two groups. One group was administered cherry juice and the other was the placebo control group.

The group under the cherry juice was administered 240 ml of cherry juice containing a measured level of procyanidin in the morning and at night, 1-2 hours before bedtime, for 14 days.

When the results were compared, it was found that those who consumed cherry juice had increased sleep time by about 84 minutes.

The research was recently published in the American Journal of Therapeutics1.
