Ayurvedic Remedies For Bruxism
At first grinding or bruxism doesn't seem like a terrible disease until damaging effects of the disease show up. Bruxism is referred to as a condition in which the patient unconsciously clenches or grinds the teeth during the night or day.
Grinding or clinching your teeth during sleep is referred to as sleep bruxism.
If left untreated, prolonged bruxism can be damaging to the teeth, jaw and face.
Bruxism is caused by a variety of reasons and the most important among them is stress. A person who is stressed out can unknowingly clench or grind his/her teeth.

When the teeth are aligned abnormally, the patient may unknowingly grind or clench his/her teeth. Sometimes, bruxism can also be caused due to diseases like Parkinson's or Huntington's disease.
In case of Parkinson's disease, the nervous system of the person is affected and the patient's movement and coordination skills also get affected. This causes a person to involuntarily grind the teeth.
Other symptoms include taking certain antidepressants that can cause bruxism.
If not treated, it can cause chipped teeth, worn down enamel, facial pain, headache, ear pain and damage in the teeth tissue.

To cure the problem and to ease the symptoms of bruxism, here are some Ayurvedic remedies that you can consider.

Apple Slices
Munching on apple slices before going to sleep can really be helpful in the case of sleep bruxism. It helps to calm the mouth and ease the symptoms. Munching on it before bed will reduce the instances of unconscious grinding of the teeth.

Chamomile Tea
Drinking chamomile tea is a great way to cure the problem of teeth grinding or bruxism. The compounds present in chamomile tea help calm nerves, jaw muscles and also decrease stress and anxiety. Those suffering from bruxism should drink chamomile tea every day before going to bed to help cure the problem of grinding teeth. With continued usage, you will notice there will be fewer instances of teeth grinding.

Hops
Hops, also known as Kanphuta in Hindi, has always been used as a sedative, but this is also a good remedy for those suffering from bruxism. It has a calming effect on the body and helps reduce stress and anxiety that are the main causes of bruxism. Those suffering from teeth grinding should pour a few drops of hops in the water before going to bed. In a few days, you will notice that there are fewer instances of teeth grinding. It helps in curing the problem of teeth grinding permanently.

Turmeric & Milk
Turmeric is a powerhouse herb used to cure a variety of ailments. Combine it with milk and you have a great remedy for sleep bruxism. A mixture of milk and turmeric helps in reducing pain, relaxing the nerves, helps in calming you and induces better sleep. Drinking this every day before going to bed can be helpful in treating bruxism.

Yoga
Stress and anxiety are some of the biggest causes of bruxism. Yoga helps in calming the nerves, thereby reducing stress and anxiety that cause bruxism.
