2 Best Ayurvedic Recipes For Weight Loss
Ayurveda is the science of life. Whatever is prescribed in it will be in consonance with nature and in accordance with the circadian rhythm of the body.
There are no short-cuts or quick-fixes, but a sensible diet eaten in moderation, exercising regularly and leading a stress-free life is advocated by Ayurveda for the general well-being of an individual.

Ayurveda advises each one of us to eat seasonal foods and flow with nature always. Thus, in summer, eat foods that have plenty of water content that will cool the body while winters are for foods that provide warmth.
Eating foods in season is nutritious and is also fresh rather than food that is packed in bins found on the shelves of a supermarket. The largest meal of the day should be lunch for that is when our digestion is at its best.
Eating meals at regular intervals staves off cravings. There are six main food groups consisting of the sweet, salty, sour, bitter, pungent and astringent, and all these should be incorporated into the meal.
Mindful eating, not senseless binging sitting in front of the big screen, should be practiced. Concentrating on food while eating enforces the discipline of mindful eating.

Thus, how we eat is also important along with what we eat. There are many recipes in Ayurveda for weight loss. Let us see two of them that you could opt for.
The Wonder Water

Water is the elixir of life, and Ayurveda advises us to drink hot water throughout the day.
Starting the day by drinking a large glass of water with a few drops of lemon added to it stimulates the bowels and gets us to a great start.
Sipping hot water improves assimilation of food and aids in a proper digestion. It cleanses the digestive tract and prevents blockages. All the toxins are flushed out and, most importantly, it reduces cravings greatly.

There are many who have lost a few kilograms by following this one recipe diligently. Carrying a thermos to work, sipping hot water periodically also helps one to avoid guzzling cups of tea or coffee during long work hours.
Drinking herbal tea or adding a dash of lemon and ginger in the hot water and sipping it at frequent intervals throughout the day can enhance the taste and give the same benefits as well.
Bottle Gourd Or Lauki

This humble vegetable is often ignored and not given its due in our culinary diary. It is also known as calabash or opo squash.
It is an amazing vegetable with high water content. It can be taken as a cooked vegetable or as juice. Popularly known as lauki in India, it is easily digestible and has amazing medicinal properties too.
It cools the body and acts as a hydrating agent. Taken first thing in the morning, a glass of bottle gourd juice aids in weight loss, keeping us satiated, thus reducing hunger pangs. It has high-fibre content and it is this that helps in keeping us full.

It helps in the smooth functioning of the digestive system. This helps in regulating the metabolism of the body. Due to a high rate of metabolism, food gets digested quickly and there is no accumulation of fat in the body. Thus, it aids in weight loss indirectly.
Bottle gourd juice should not be filtered, as it will result in the loss of fibre and valuable nutrients. Before extracting the juice, a small piece of the vegetable should be tasted, as some vegetables tend to have a bitter taste. Also, never mix bottle gourd juice with the juice of any other vegetable.
