Asana Of The Day: Trikonasana
Yoga is the healthiest and most positive way to begin your day. So Boldsky presents to you the Asana of the day; Trikonasana. This yoga asana is also called the Triangle pose. 'Trikon' means triangle in Sanskrit. This yoga asana is so named because while practising it, your body forms a perfect triangle.
Steps To Do Trikonasana:

- Stand straight with your feet at least 3 to 4 feet apart. Look at the alignment of your feet. Your left toes and right toes should be aligned in a straight line.
- Now turn your left toe at a perpendicular to keep it straight.
- Bend to your right and touch the floor with your palm. You must place your arm behind your outstretched leg.
- Initially you may not be able to touch the ground with your palm. Try touching the ground with your finger tips first.
- Raise your left arm at 90 degrees. You should lift your arm in such a way that it forms a straight line with your right arm touching the ground.
- At this stage, you are in the perfect triangle pose.
- Come back to the first step and repeat the Trikonasana by bending to your left.
Benefits Of Trikonasana:
- This is a great yoga asana for beginners. Even amateurs can try this pose without any threat of injury. Both your feet are on the ground so you are firmly balanced.
- Trikonasana tones your leg muscles. So instead of doing squats in the gym, you can choose the Trinagle pose.
- This asana gives strength to your spinal cord. If you have desk job that involves long hours of sitting, you must exercise your spinal cord with this pose.
- This is a mild yoga pose that can be practised by neo-natal mothers. It is one of the best asanas to lose post-pregnancy weight.
- This yoga pose is also very beneficial for diabetics. This is because diabetes always attacks your kidneys. And Trikonasana exercise all the organs of your abdomen. It is especially helpful for keeping your kidneys in good working condition and also improving your digestion.
- This pose is not just beneficial to the body but also to the mind. It helps you to bring balance into your being. You can reach a perfect equilibrium or synchronisation between body and mind by practising this pose.
