  • Potatoes- 3 (boiled and mashed)

  • Coriander leaves- 2 stalks (chopped)
  • Green chillies- 2 (chopped)
  • Mustard seeds- 1/2 tsp
  • Besan or Gram flour- 2 cups
  • Rice flour- 1/2 cup
  • Red chilli powder- 1 + 1 tsp
  • Coriander powder- 1tsp
  • Cumin powder- 1tsp
  • Turmeric powder- 1/2 tsp
  • Salt- as per taste
  • Oil- 2 cups
  • Procedure

    1. Take the mashed potatoes, add half red chilli powder, half turmeric, cumin powder, coriander powder, green chillies and salt to it.

  • Now, use your fingers to knead the mashed potatoes like a dough.
  • Heat 2tbsp oil in a pan, temper it with mustard seeds.
  • Pour all the mashed potatoes mixed with spices into it.
  • Sprinkle chopped coriander leaves from the top.
  • Mix the mashed potatoes and cook on a low flame for 5-7 minutes.
  • Meanwhile, make a batter out of besan and rice flour.
  • Add the remaining chilli powder and turmeric to it.
  • Also add some salt for taste and mix the batter well to get the right consistency.
  • Allow the sauteed mashed potatoes to cool.
  • Now make round chops using your palms and dip them in besan batter.
  • Meanwhile, heat 2 cups of oil in a deep bottomed pan.
  • When it steams, place the chops in the oil.
  • Deep fry the potato chops until they are crisp.
  • Serve the crisp aloo chops with onion rings and chutney.
