Satsang With Swami Chinmayananda-On Hinduism And Philosophy

Hinduism, Chinmayananda
What is Hinduism?

Hinduism is the way-of-life of the Hindus. Hinduism cannot be termed as a religion. Hinduism can be classified as a progressive, ever growing tradition. This tradition gives freedom for the individuals to grow in a healthy atmosphere of moral life and ethical perfection.

Who is Hindu?

All those who follow the thoughts of the Rishis born in Bharat and all those who believe in and live these thoughts are Hindus.

What is Dharma?

Dharma means righteousness. Dharma means duty of an individual.

Raja-Dharma means duties of a king or a kingdom. Dharma is the quality of a thing; for example sweetness is the Dharma of sugar. Heat is the dharma of fire. Dharma of man is consciousness or the divine spark in him called the Atman. Manava Dharma is therefore living a divine life-the Atma-Dharma. Sanathana Dharma is that Dhanna(culture) which has no beginning; it is the way of life of the seekers of the endless infinite.

What is Philosophy?

Philosophy is the science of life. It is the theoretical part of this science. It prescribes a set of higher values for our guidance in living life nobly.
If philosophy is to be brought into practice in our day-to-day life, the technique employed here is termed religion.

What is the aim of philosophy?

Philosophy analyses life to find out the cause of its sorrow and the way of real happiness for the world. Philosophy enlightens man. Philosophy makes the reader smile at his disappointment in life. Philosophy brings cheer to the students and makes him act with a fresh enthusiasm in the world.
