‘Jai Jai Ram’ Song From Ramayana Is Out! The Spiritual Meaning Behind The Film’s New Devotional Track
The much-awaited musical journey of Ramayana: Part One has begun with "Jai Jai Ram", a devotional song released on Ganesh Chaturthi. Composed by A.R. Rahman, written by Dr Kumar Vishwas and sung by Arijit Singh and Shreya Ghoshal, the track brings together the scale of a cinematic anthem and the intimacy of a prayer. More than simply introducing the film's music, the song draws attention to the enduring spiritual significance of Lord Ram's name.
What Does "Jai Jai Ram" Mean?
At the heart of the song is the repeated invocation of Lord Ram's name. The words "Jai Jai Ram" can be understood as an expression of praise and devotion towards Ram. Rather than relying on elaborate language, the song places the name itself at the centre of its emotional experience.
Lyricist Dr Kumar Vishwas has described "Jai Jai Ram" as three simple words that contain a complete prayer. He explained that his intention was not merely to describe Lord Ram, but to express the relationship between Ram and his devotees. According to Vishwas, Ram represents a guide, a source of strength and a refuge.
‘Jai Jai Ram’ are three simple words, yet within them lies a complete prayer. While writing the song, my endeavour was not to describe Shri Ram, because his meaning cannot be contained in words, but to express the relationship every devotee shares with him: as our guide, our…

Why The Song Keeps Its Devotion Simple
The simplicity of the central phrase is an important part of its appeal. Vishwas has spoken about the idea that the three words "Jai Jai Ram" can themselves carry the feeling of a complete prayer.
This approach allows listeners to connect with the song without needing to unpack complicated verses. The focus remains on remembrance, devotion and the emotional connection associated with taking Ram's name.
From Prayer To A Cinematic Anthem
Speaking about the song's creation, A.R. Rahman explained in a statement carried by IANS that the musical approach was to retain the purity and intimacy of a prayer while allowing it to develop into a cinematic composition. He also highlighted the simple yet powerful invocation of Lord Ram's name at the heart of the song.
The accompanying visuals further place the devotional theme within the story of Ramayana, featuring moments from Ram and Sita's journey, including their wedding and Ram's reunion with Bharat.
A Song Rooted In Faith And Storytelling
The release on Ganesh Chaturthi also adds a cultural layer to the song's arrival. The makers chose an auspicious festival to begin the film's musical journey, connecting the launch with the broader Indian tradition of seeking divine blessings at the start of something significant.
Ultimately, "Jai Jai Ram" does not simply introduce Ramayana: Part One through music. It attempts to capture something more personal - the idea of turning towards Ram through his name, finding strength in remembrance and connecting with the timeless values associated with him.
