Jaipur's Moti Dungri Ganesh Temple witnessed a massive gathering ahead of Ganesh Chaturthi, as devotees arrived for its annual Sinjara Mahotsav. The festival's special mehendi prasad has long been associated with a popular local belief, particularly among those hoping to overcome obstacles in marriage. This year, the scale of the celebration was especially striking, with thousands of kilograms of mehendi prepared for devotees.

3,500 Kg Of Mehendi Prepared For The Celebration

Around 3,500 kg of mehendi, sourced from Sojat in Rajasthan's Pali district, was reportedly prepared for the Sinjara celebration. The mehendi is offered as part of the religious ritual and subsequently distributed among devotees as prasad.

According to reports, the distribution began earlier than originally scheduled because of the enormous turnout. The mehendi was reportedly distributed from multiple points around the temple, with arrangements made to manage the crowds.

The entire stock of approximately 3,500 kg was reportedly distributed in about three hours, highlighting the extraordinary demand among devotees.

Why Unmarried Devotees Seek The Sacred Mehendi

The Sinjara Mahotsav has a special significance for devotees who are unmarried. A popular local belief holds that applying the mehendi offered to Lord Ganesha is auspicious for people seeking marriage and may help remove obstacles in finding a suitable partner.

Large numbers of unmarried men and women reportedly visited the temple to receive the mehendi prasad. Some devotees believe that those who apply it may find a marriage proposal or get married within the following year.

However, this is a matter of religious faith and local belief, rather than something that has been scientifically established. For devotees, the ritual represents hope, blessings and faith in Lord Ganesha.
