Vrat Wale Aloo Recipe: How To Make Vrat Ke Aloo Sabzi
Vrat wale potato is a simple yet traditional recipe that is prepared during festivals, especially forduring fasts. Here is a detailed preparation method along with images and a video.
Vrat wale aloo is a common yet traditional side dish that is prepared for festivals and is included as a part of the Uupvas meals. It is made by simpley cooking the potatoes with spices. Here, we do not include onions and garlic, as it is especially prepared during fasts.
Vrat ke aloo sabzi is a simple side dish, yet the fragrance of the spices along with the crinchcrunchiness of the coriander and the softness of the aloo make this dish makes yourtotally mouth waterworth trying. This potato curry goes best with poori and roti, but it can asloalso be eaten with any main dish.

Potatoes (washed) - 2
Water - 2 and 1/2 cups
Oil - 1 tbsp
Jeera (cumin seeds) - 1 tsp
Green chillies (chopped) - 1 tsp
Red chilli powder - 1 tsp
Turmeric powder - 1/4th tsp
Coriander seeds - 3 tsp
Rock salt - 1 tsp
Jeera powder - 1 tsp
Coriander leaves (chopped) - for garnishing

1. Pour 2 cups of water in a pressure cooker and add the potatoes.
2. Pressure cook it for up to 3-4 whistles and allow it to cool.
3. Open the lid of the cooker, take the boiled potatoes and peel the skin off.
4. Cut the potatoes into cubes.
5. Add oil to a heated pan.
6. Add jeera and green chillies.
7. Once it starts to splutter, add the red chilli powder and turmeric powder.
8. Further, add the coriander seeds and sauté well.
9. Add half a cup of water and let it cook for 2 minutes and come to a boil.
10. Then, add the boiled potato cubes and mix well.
11. Add rock salt and mix.
12. Cook until the water evaporates and the masala sticks to the potatoes.
13. Add jeera powder and stir well.
14. Garnish with chopped coriander leaves before serving.
STEP BY STEP - HOW TO MAKE VRAT WALE ALOO
1. Pour 2 cups of water in a pressure cooker and add the potatoes.


2. Pressure cook it for up to 3-4 whistles and allow it to cool.

3. Open the lid of the cooker, take the boiled potatoes and peel the skin off.
