Ajwain paratha is a typical North Indian flat bread that is simply prepared in all most households for regular meals. The paratha is prepared by adding ajwain in the atta and making it in to flat breads. It is flaky, soft and is layered, as it is folded a couple of times before rolling it into a flat bread forms.

The ajwain ka paratha has great health benefits, as it is a good medicine for cold, fever and mainly indigestion. It is also simple and quick to prepared and hence this flavourful bread is a common meal with any curries like dal, paneer or any other vegetables.

The essential ingredient foe for the delicious paratha is the ghee that is added while making them it on the pan. The more the ghee, the better the taste of the paratha. Ingredients
  • Atta (whole wheat flour) - 1½ cups + for coating

    Salt to taste

    Ajwain (carom seeds) - 4 tsp

    Green chillies (crushed) - 1 tsp

    Curd - 2 tbsp

    Oil - 1 tsp

    Water - ½ a cup

    Ghee - ½ a cup

How to Prepare
  • 1. Add one and a half cups of atta in a bowl.

    2. Add salt, ajwain and green chillies.

    3. Further, add curd and oil; mix well.

    4. Add water little by little and knead it into a firm dough.

    5. Divide the dough into equal portions and roll them into balls between your palms.

    6. Flatten the rounds and dip them in a cup of atta.

    7. Roll them into flat rotis with a rolling pin.

    8. Sprinkle a few drops of ghee and atta on it.

    9. Fold the roti into half and further fold it into another half to get the layers.

    10. Dip into the flour and roll it into a flat roti again with the rolling pin.

    11. Heat a pan and place the roti on it.

    12. Turn it over once it is half cooked.

    13. Apply ghee on the half-cooked side.

    14. Turn it over a couple of times, till both the sides get nice brown spots.

  • 3. You can use sendha namak or vrat ka salt if you are preparing this for poojas or vrat.
