8 Things You Should Never Do While Trying To Conceive
They say that life is truly complete only when you bring another life into this world. The act of giving birth is known to be one of the most beautiful moments, which creates a stronger bond between the new parents.
Let us admit, pregnancy, child-birth and parenting are not easy tasks at all. However, when the time is right and both the would-be parents are really ready for a child, then they do not waste any time in trying to conceive.
The process of trying to get pregnant may seem simple, and even fun. Just spend quality time with your partner in bed and boom - you are pregnant!
No, it is not as simple as that. There are a number of things that can delay the process of you getting pregnant.
Especially in this era, where stress, pollution, unhealthy lifestyles, etc, are common, infertility is on the rise.
Apart from infertility, other factors such as bad habits, certain foods, quality of the sperms and eggs, etc, can also prevent a person from conceiving.
Read along to know more about some of the things that you should absolutely avoid if you are trying to conceive.

1. Excessive Drinking
While most of us know that women should not consume alcohol after getting pregnant, it is a lesser known fact that drinking while trying for a child can also be a bad idea. For both men and women, drinking too much alcohol leads to infertility issues and a depleted quality of their sperms and eggs.

2. Vigorous Exercise
This holds good especially for women. It is really good to maintain your fitness level and to get some exercise daily. But, some of us tend to overdo it. Studies show that women who indulge in extreme physical activities take longer to conceive, as this factor may interfere with their menstrual cycles, thereby affecting fertility.

3. Stress/Depression
Being extremely stressed out or suffering from depression can definitely affect your chances of getting pregnant. These conditions can induce fatigue, which may in turn lead a couple to avoid having sex during the fertile days of the month. Stress and depression can also affect your overall health in general, which is bad for fertility.

4. Unhealthy Diet
If you are really serious about getting pregnant, then you must start eating healthy, as a nutritious diet plays an important role when it comes to being fertile. Vegetables, leafy greens, adequate water, eggs, milk, etc, can be added to your daily diet. Saturated fats, oily foods, extremely spicy food, etc, can be avoided.

5. Being Overweight/Underweight
Being overweight or underweight is not advisable when you are trying to conceive. Obesity is known to affect fertility in both men and women, whereas being underweight is known to affect the quality of the eggs in a woman and may also lead to miscarriages.

6. Smoking
If you are trying to get pregnant, then it is time to get rid of your smoking habit. According to a study, smoking affects the quality of sperms and eggs and also infants conceived by chronic smokers are known to be more prone to genetic abnormalities.

7. Laptops
Modern-day couples cannot imagine their lives without technology. Laptops, cell phones, etc. They are a part of our daily routine. However, various fertility studies have shown that placing the laptops close to your privates and the uterus (for women) can radiate excess heat to the reproductive organs and affect fertility in a major way.

8. Excess Caffeine
Coffee or caffeinated energy drinks usually keeps us feeling fresh and all fueled up, so it is hard to give up on these. However, experts opine that people trying to conceive should limit their caffeine intake to below 200 mg per day. Too much of caffeine is said to affect fertility and can increase the risk of miscarriages and premature birth.
