Though, these foetal movements slow down towards the end of pregnancy, a lack of foetal movement is very concerning. During the third trimester you need to be very cautious about the baby's movements. Some doctors even ask you to count the number of movements that you can feel every few hours. Lack of foetal movement should be immediately informed to the doctor and an ultrasound needs to be performed to monitor the foetal movements and heartbeat. It is always good to be safe than being sorry later, because if this condition occurs towards the end of pregnancy, the doctor can even advise to immediately go for a C-Section to save the baby. This is the worst complications during pregnancy. A sustained first trimester heart rate below 100 beats per minute (bpm), is considered brady cardiac. Heart rates of less than 90 bpm in the first trimester are considered to have dismal prognosis and transferring to a tertiary centre with cardiology support is often recommended here.
