Whole Wheat
Foods made out of whole grains such as oats, barley, whole wheat bread, cereals etc can be consumed for effective thyroid functioning. Limit the consumption of refined foods such as white bread, white rice etc.

Salad
One of the best hypothyroidism diet is sprouts, cucumber and carrot salads. They stimulate the thyroid gland to produce thyroid hormones.

Cod Liver Oil
It helps in maintaining healthy thyroid gland function. Since they are rich in omega 3 fatty acids, they help to fight inflammation and increase immunity. You can have soft capsules of cod liver oil after consulting your doctor.

Vitamin D
Deficiency of this vitamin causes thyroid disease. The sun helps the body to generate vitamin D in the body. Expose your body to the sun for at least 15 minutes. It also helps in calcium metabolism. Make it a habit to sit in sun light if you have hypothyroidism.

Vitamin B Complex
B complex vitamins including several vitamins vitamins B1, B2, B3, B5, B6, B7, B9 and B12. These B vitamins are important for proper functioning of thyroid gland. You can have whole grains, fresh green vegetables, eggs etc as a source of b vitamins.
