Pregnancy Troubles During Summer

Pregnancy in itself is a complicated state of body and during summers it becomes even worse, specially for women who live in those areas of the World which has extreme climates. Pregnancy during summer becomes extremely uncomfortable because during pregnancy the body temperature normally is a high and the added heat is bound to make the lady feel uncomfortable.

High temperature of the body during pregnancy in summer can lead to Hyperthermia. It is a term for common heat related problems. According to a medical expert Amber Ceccarelli, "Hyperthermia has been linked to certain birth defects including heart problems, abdominal wall defects and problems with the development of the nervous system."

Overheating of the body in pregnancy during summer may happen without even realizing. It may happen in the process of walking, doing household work, gardening etc. In summers body tends to get dehydrated, which may lead to a heat stroke and is one of the major symptoms of Hyperthermia. Dehydration of the body in pregnancy during summer, devoid body of the necessary fluids, which may lead to contraction, low blood volume and premature birth. Hyperthermia may also lead to miscarriage and still birth.

Ways to prevent Hyperthermia in Pregnancy during summer -

1.Clothes – Maternity clothes should be of cotton, lycra and Supplex. These are light, allows absorption, makes one feel comfortable and allows the body to breath.

2.Mint – mint is the solution to every problem in summers. Eat it, drink it, apply it on skin or just inhale the vapour. It helps in keeping your body cool in every form it is used.

3.Tea – Tea is a good way of keeping your body hydrated. Two cups of tea during the whole day will help maintain your body temperature.

4.Bath – Take cold bath. If it's too hot, you can even put some ice cube in the bath water.

5.Aerobics – Aerobics is the trend in exercise during pregnancy and is best during summers. Other forms of exercise may cause you to sweat and add on to dehydration but aquarobics will workout on your physical self as well as help you stay hydrated.

6. - Avoid direct sunlight.
