First Period After Pregnancy: What To Expect
Many new mothers have a lot questions about their first menses after pregnancy. For most women, the first period comes with a lot of factors which thus affects the return of the menstrual cycle. If you are not certain about when your first period will arrive, you should know that for most women it arrives four weeks and six months after childbirth.
However, if this is not your first pregnancy, you should know that every pregnancy is different and there could be a delay or it could also happen on an earlier date too. Even if your period returned exactly six weeks after the birth of your first child, this does not mean your menstrual cycle will return at the same point when it comes to the second pregnancy.
DO YOU SUFFER FROM IRREGULAR PERIODS?
The first menses after pregnancy is usually very painful. This is because of the hormonal changes in your body from being pregnant and also the part of you not menstruating for nine months. But the good part is that your menses after pregnancy will return to normalcy after a few months or so.

According to experts, when you get your first period after having your baby, it is normally heavy and it last longer than the five to seven days. For many their first cycle lasts two or three weeks, and this can be a really scary thought. But, if it continues for a longer period of time, it is best to consult your doctor or gynecologist.
The other main problem many women face is adjusting to the usage of tampons or sanitary pads, but usually it is the former. Post pregnancy, the vaginal muscles weaken and cause your cervix to dip down further than normal.
This makes the tampon slip out easily from the vagina, which is why using sanitary napkins is a lot better and comfortable. To tighten the vaginal muscles, practice kegel exercises thrice in a day to strengthen the vaginal tissue. These are some of the things you should be aware of after you get the first menses post pregnancy.
