Kids, especially toddlers, become fussy eaters as they grow up. There will be a time when your kids eat only what you give. But as they grow up, the situations will change. The problem arises when their likes and dislikes are revealed. This will start even from the toddler stage.
Milk, fruits and vegetables need to play an important role in the child’s diet. There are not many varieties of food that can replace milk. Ensure that the food given to them should cover all the basic nutrients. One of the best ways to do this is to make milkshakes or healthy drinks for kids. This ensures that the child is getting a good amount of fruits along with milk in one serving; enough to keep them healthy.
Children want something different each day. It becomes quite impossible for the parents to meet their requirements all the time. Sometimes, parents just want the easy way out, but without the guilt of giving their child unhealthy things to eat. The following are a few milkshake recipes for children that parents can use to help their child eat healthier.
Banana/Apple/Mango/Strawberry
Milkshake recipes for children with any one of the fruits have similar procedure. The fruits should be washed, peeled and deseeded. This is then blended along with the milk. For smaller kids, you need to make it free flowing. For bigger ones, make it thicker. This will depend on the amount of milk added. There is no need to add any sugar.
Chocolate Biscuit Milkshake
Kids love chocolate milkshakes. Chocolate milkshakes recipes for children require milk, vanilla, ice cream, chocolate syrup and biscuits. Blend all the ingredients together except the biscuits until frothy. Then, add the biscuits and blend for a minute. Whipped cream can be added on top.
Strawberry and banana Milkshake
This is one of the healthy drinks for kids that is very simple to make. Water is added to the blender along with banana, sugar and milk. After it is blended, add vanilla essence, ice cream and strawberries. Blend this for some more time. If you want to make it thicker, add more banana and strawberry slices.
Watermelon Milkshake
This is one of the milkshake recipes for children, especially for the summer. This will cool down their body. Cubed frozen watermelons, milk, vanilla extract and sugar are blended to make a thick smooth milkshake. Sugar is not required if the watermelon is sweet.
Mint Chip Milkshake
This is one of the healthy drinks for kids as it contains all the essential vitamins. Children will also like the taste and the flavour. Blend sliced bananas, baby spinach, peppermint extract, fresh mint leaves and vanilla extract with milk until smooth. Chocolate chips can also be grounded and added for flavour.
Chocolate and Avocado Milkshake
Milk, banana and avocados are blended together along with cocoa powder, honey, and flax seeds, until a smooth texture is obtained. Flax seeds and avocado are rich in vitamins and they are good for children.
