3 Common Breastfeeding Problems Faced By New Mothers
Here are some of the most common breastfeeding problems faced by new mothers!
A new mother, especially if it is her first pregnancy, would be rather new to the act of breastfeeding. Did you know that there are a few problems a woman could face while breastfeeding her newborn?
The new mother mentally prepares herself to face any kind of challenges that come in her way, when it comes to taking care of her child.
She makes sure she eats right and she does everything her doctor advices her to do, as her unborn's health is her number one priority.
However, when it comes to acts like breastfeeding, initially, it may take some time for both the mother and the child to get a hang of it.
As we all know, breastfeeding is an important part of child-rearing and provides the baby with rich nutrients that are required for his/her growth.
In fact, many research studies have claimed that children who are breastfed tend to be relatively healthier.
So, it is very important for the mother to ensure that she is getting the act of breastfeeding right.
Here are a few problems faced by new mothers while breastfeeding, take a look!
1. Breast Enlargement

Due to the various hormonal fluctuations that occur in a woman's body before and after pregnancy, her breasts can enlarge to a large extent, coming in the way of her breastfeeding. In addition, if the mother is unable to breastfeed the child frequently, the milk can get accumulated in her breasts, causing enlargement, swelling and soreness, making breastfeeding an extremely painful process.
2. Blocked Milk Ducts

Many a times, the milk-producing ducts present in the breasts of the new mother can get blocked or plugged due to various reasons, like hardening of the milk. When this happens, the milk is unable to flow out through her nipples and gets accumulated in the breasts. This can also cause a lot of pain and soreness in the breasts, not to mention the fact that her baby is unable to get any milk!
3. Flat Nipples

Another breastfeeding problem faced by new mothers is having flat nipples. It is very important for the breastfeeding mother to have erect nipples while breastfeeding her baby, so that the baby can latch his/her mouth on to the erect nipples and suckle effectively. Suckling can become difficult if the mother's nipples remain flat or retracted, so a lady may need to seek the help of her doctor in such a condition.
