Silver Rate Today Soars Towards Rs 3 Lakh/Kg on Makar Sankranti 2026; Gold Rate Climbs, MCX Prices Bullish
Silver prices in India on the occassion of Makar Sankranti continued their sharp upward trend this week, with rates rising significantly over the past three trading sessions. On January 14, 2026, silver was priced at Rs 2,900 per 10 grams and Rs 2,90,000 per kilogram, marking a strong surge in the bullion market. With this move, silver prices have jumped by nearly Rs 30,000 per kg over the last three days.

Silver prices today in India continued to surge on Makar Sankranti 2026. On a per gram basis, silver was priced at Rs 290 per gram, registering an increase of Rs 15 compared to yesterday's rate of Rs 275, highlighting sustained buying interest.

For smaller retail quantities, the price of 8 grams of silver on 14 January 2026 stood at Rs 2,320, up by Rs 120 from Rs 2,200 in the previous session. Meanwhile, 10 grams of silver were priced at Rs 2,900, marking a sharp rise of Rs 150 from Rs 2,750.
In larger quantities, 100 grams of silver on Wednesday were quoted at Rs 29,000, gaining Rs 1,500 over yesterday's price of Rs 27,500. On a bulk basis, 1 kilogram of silver was priced at Rs 2,90,000, reflecting a significant jump of Rs 15,000 compared to Rs 2,75,000 a day earlier.
MCX Silver Price Today: Check Latest Spot Silver Price on January 14, 2026
Silver prices on the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX) registered a strong upward move in morning trade on January 14, 2026, reflecting heightened momentum in the precious metals segment. The MCX Silver contract for March 5, 2026 expiry was trading at Rs 2,85,900 per kilogram at 11:09 AM IST, marking a sharp gain of Rs 10,713, or 3.89 per cent, compared to the previous close.
The contract opened higher at Rs 2,81,698 per kg, indicating positive sentiment right from the start of the session. Strong buying interest pushed prices well above the previous closing level of Rs 2,75,187 per kg.
Trading activity remained robust, with volumes recorded at 5,633 lots, suggesting active participation from traders and investors. Meanwhile, the spot silver price was quoted at Rs 90,951.

Gold prices in India moved sharply higher today, 24 Karat gold was priced at Rs 14,362 per gram, registering a rise of Rs 109 compared to the previous session. At this rate, 100 grams of 24 Karat gold now costs Rs 14,36,200.
In the jewellery segment, 22 Karat gold also witnessed a notable increase. The price of 22 Karat gold stood at Rs 13,165 per gram, up by Rs 100. Accordingly, 100 grams of 22 Karat gold is valued at Rs 13,16,500, making jewellery purchases costlier today.
Meanwhile, 18 Karat gold, commonly used in designer and studded jewellery, rose to Rs 10,772 per gram, marking a gain of Rs 82. On a larger scale, 100 grams of 18 Karat gold is now priced at Rs 10,77,200.
