Virat Kohli-Anushka Sharma’s ₹5 Crore Premanand Maharaj Ashram Visit Claim: Is It True?
A ₹5 crore claim involving Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma's visits to Premanand Maharaj's ashram has surfaced online, raising questions about why the cricketer and actor were linked to such a large payment. The claim has drawn attention because the couple's visits to the spiritual leader are well documented, but the details surrounding the alleged ₹5 crore amount have become a subject of debate.
Where Did The ₹5 Crore Claim Come From?
The claim was made by Dinesh Sharma, popularly known as Falahari Maharaj and president of the Shri Krishna Janmabhoomi Sangharsh Nyas. According to reports, he alleged that a Rajasthan-based private company or property-linked group spent or offered ₹5 crore to bring Kohli to Premanand Maharaj's ashram in Vrindavan.
The alleged purpose, according to the claim, was to increase the spiritual leader's popularity and reach. The allegation was also reportedly included in a letter sent to Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. However, reports carrying the allegation have stressed that it was not independently verified.
Did Virat Kohli And Anushka Sharma Visit The Ashram?
Yes. This part of the viral story is established.
Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma first made a widely reported visit to Premanand Maharaj's ashram in Vrindavan on January 4, 2023, along with their daughter Vamika. They attended a discourse, offered prayers and spent time at the ashram. Contemporary reporting from January 2023 documented their visit.
The couple have returned to the ashram several times since then, including visits reported in 2025 and 2026. Their repeated association with Premanand Maharaj is therefore not based on a single viral video or recent social-media claim.
Was ₹5 Crore Actually Paid To Virat Kohli And Anushka Sharma?
There is no publicly verified evidence establishing that Virat or Anushka received ₹5 crore for visiting the ashram.
No payment record, bank transaction, contract, invoice or other financial document has been produced publicly to substantiate the allegation. More importantly, the original claim does not establish that ₹5 crore was handed directly to both Kohli and Anushka. Reports have described the allegation as money allegedly spent or offered to bring Kohli to the ashram.
That distinction is important because social-media posts can turn an allegation about money allegedly being spent to facilitate a visit into a claim that the celebrity was personally paid.
What Did Virat Kohli's Spokesperson Say?
Virat Kohli's spokesperson has now directly rejected the allegation. On October 7, the spokesperson described the claims made by Falahari Maharaj as "completely false, baseless and factually incorrect."
The spokesperson also said Virat visits Premanand Maharaj "purely out of his deep faith and reverence" for the spiritual leader. This is the first clear public response from Kohli's side to the ₹5 crore allegation.
What Is The Verdict On The ₹5 Crore Claim?
The ₹5 crore payment claim is not supported by verified evidence and has been categorically denied by Virat Kohli's spokesperson. Virat and Anushka's visits to Premanand Maharaj's ashram are genuine and documented, but there is no evidence establishing that they received ₹5 crore for those visits.
Therefore, the ₹5 crore figure should be described as an allegation that was denied, not as a confirmed payment.
