Tattoos are the post modern way of beautifying anyone's body. Like any other branch of art tattooing is also an art that requires a lot of aesthetic sense, patience and artistic skills. The main objective behind tattooing is to gather attraction from the society. There are people who stamp tattoos even at the private parts of body. Tattooing is the art that is depicted on the canvas of human body. Today a good number of celebrities see tattoos as effective way of adding to their name and fame.

Many world famous celebrities have tattoos one or more on their body. Some of them are listed here.

David Beckham

Soccer star David Beckham is known as much for his fashion sense and tattoos as he is for is abilities on the playing field. All of Beckham"s skin art has been done by Manchester tattooist Louis Malloy, one of the most prominent in the UK. Beckham's body holds several tattoos. Brooklyn, the name of his first-born son is tattooed across his lower back. Romeo, the name of his second son sits just below the base of his neck. Cruz, the name of his third son is placed just below the winged figure. Between his shoulder blades there is a figure tattooed with arms outstretching which Beckham calls the 'guardian angel. This tattoo was later expanded to include larger wings. During the 2004 world cup he tattooed a winged cross on the back of his neck. Victoria, the name his wife is tattooed in Indian language Hindi on his left arm. On right arm there is the Roman numeral VII, as "seven" was his Manchester United number. He's also got the Latin phrase "Perfectio In Spiritu" which translates as "spiritual perfection." on his right arm.

Angelina Jolie

No other Academy Award-winning actress has ever had as many tattoos as Angelina Jolie. Her collection is very much in the American vein of tattooing, with multiple tattoos on her arms, stomach and back. They mix languages and styles, and she gets them traveling around. She has got Latin, English and Cambodian words on her, prayers for her family and personal mottos. Her lower back has a large Tiger that was done by the traditional Thai hand methods, and on her belly there is a large cross, which is a cover up for a dragon. There are also tattoos which are the latitude and longitude numbers for Cambodia and Ethiopia and birthplaces of her first two adopted children on her body.

Mike Tyson

Boxer Mike Tyson recently expanded on his tattoo collection which includes Chairman Mao and the name "Mike" to include a tribal-style facial tattoo. When asked why he did it, he made statements about taking inspiration from the Maori and their fighting spirit. The new tattoo helps to add to the furious looks of the boxer.

Mandira Bedi

Indian celebrity Mandira Bedi landed in a thick controversy when she appeared on ramp with a Sikh religious symbol tattoo on her bare back. There pictured the tattoo of 'Ekom Kar" which means God is one, in Gurmukhi. These are the first words of the holy Sikh scripture - the Granth Sahib. The Sikh community is demanding apology from her for this anti Sikh action. She also has a Buddist symbol tattooed on her naval.
