There is a lot that a woman goes through while she is pregnant. From morning sickness to the untimely cramps, there are many things that she goes through and getting to see the growth of the foetus is something that vanishes away all the pain and agony.

The Mother Was A 23-Year-Old Woman…
Wu was pregnant and she went in to get a scan done of her foetus. She got a shock of her life, as the foetus looked like a mermaid!
The Ultrasound Revealed…
The ultrasound revealed that the foetus had a tail-like protrusion instead of legs. Doctors informed her that this condition is known as the "mermaid syndrome or sirenomelia". It is a rare condition, but it is existent!

She Was Heart-broken…
She was apparently heart-broken that her baby had the mermaid syndrome and the baby was said to be completely deformed and it had a tail in place of legs.

She Decided To Abort The Foetus…
Wu decided to abort the baby, as she felt that she is not strong enough to go through the emotional phase and doctors had revealed to her that the chance of the foetus to survive was comparatively less.
This Condition Is Very, Very Rare!
Mermaid syndrome is said to be a very rare condition, in which the baby hardly survives for a short span; and if it is born alive, it survives only for a few hours and not more than that!

The Causes Of This Defect Are Not Known...
The causes of this kind of a birth defect are still not known, but this rare disorder affects one in every 100,000 babies!

There Are Only 2 Survivors!
According to reports, there are only two survivors of this rare syndrome in the world. Milagros Cerron and Shiloh Pepin are the two lucky girls who survived this condition.
