What does Diwali 2026 hold for you? Astrologer Ashutosh Clairvoyant explains
Diwali is considered one of the most auspicious festivals of the year. This year, the festival will be celebrated on November 8, 2026. With several planetary movements taking place around this time, the occasion holds special astrological significance. Astrologer Ashutosh Clairvoyant explains what the planetary positions indicate for Diwali 2026, the important changes expected in November and December, and the rituals and remedies people can follow to invite prosperity and positive energy into their homes.

What do the planetary positions indicate around Diwali 2026?
Ashutosh Clairvoyant says, "Diwali 2026 is like a pause before a big push. Mercury and Venus will be retrograde on the night of Lakshmi Puja, and both planets will turn direct within a week. This makes the period important for financial decisions, relationships and new beginnings. On Diwali night, the Sun and Moon will meet in Libra, with the Moon in Swati Nakshatra, which is associated with trade and business. Venus and Mercury have exchanged signs while retrograde. This indicates that wealth matters may remain protected, but people will need patience before making important decisions. Jupiter will be placed with Ketu in Leo, giving this Diwali a more spiritual significance."
Are there any significant astrological changes that people should look forward to?
He explains, "There are several important planetary movements after Diwali. On November 12, Mars will join Jupiter in Leo, forming Guru-Mangal Yoga. Mercury and Venus will turn direct on November 13 and 14, respectively, which can help delayed deals and pending matters start moving forward. On November 16, the Sun will move out of its debilitation. Venus will return to its own sign, Libra, on November 22. Further ahead, on December 5, Rahu will move into Capricorn and Ketu into Cancer. Saturn will turn direct on December 11, followed by Jupiter turning retrograde on December 13. These movements will bring important changes in the coming weeks."
What rituals, mantras and remedies can people follow during Diwali to attract prosperity and remove negativity?
The astrologer suggests performing Lakshmi-Ganesh Puja during the fixed Vrishabha Lagna. He says, "People should worship Lord Ganesha first, followed by Goddess Lakshmi and Lord Kuber. Lighting diyas in every corner of the house is also important. Keep one ghee diya burning throughout the night and light an additional diya for your ancestors. These rituals can help create a positive and peaceful atmosphere at home."

He further recommends chanting specific mantras during the puja. "Chant 'Om Gan Ganapataye Namah' 11 times, 'Om Shreem Mahalakshmyai Namah' 108 times and the Kuber mantra, 'Om Yakshaya Kuberaya Vaishravanaya Dhanadhanyadhipataye Dhanadhanya Samriddhim Me Dehi Dapaya Swaha' 11 times. These prayers are traditionally performed to seek blessings for wisdom, wealth and prosperity."
Which colours and astrological remedies should people follow this Diwali?
Ashutosh adds, "Red, pink, yellow and gold are favourable colours for Diwali this year, while black should be avoided. Since Venus is weak during this period, people can offer white sweets and white flowers to Goddess Lakshmi. Burning camphor in every room is another remedy suggested to clear negativity and invite positive energies into the house."
He also shares the Lakshmi Puja timings for different cities. "The suggested muhurat on November 8 is approximately 5:55 pm to 7:50 pm in Delhi, 6:08 pm to 8:08 pm in Hyderabad and 6:28 pm to 8:28 pm in Mumbai. Performing the puja during the auspicious muhurat, along with devotion and the prescribed rituals, can make the occasion spiritually meaningful."
